Many thanks to the Almighty God, who gave us grace on Monday, 19th December 2022, to visit the Lagos State Government Old Peoples’ Home (Home of Noble Senior Citizens) at Yaba. It was a blessing. We are also grateful to Ogechi Adeola for the post on LinkedIn that brought our attention to the existence of the home.

Engr. Oladipo Ashafa (Director) was there at 10 am prompt. Only Mrs. Emem Aideyan (Executive Director, Admin) was there to meet him. Mallam Beshi Alson (Managing Director) and Mr. Humphrey Nwafor (Executive Director) got there about 30 mins later, while Alhaji Ifedayo Sanusi came in shortly after.

We then went on a tour of the residence and met the elders. They were happy to see us and prayed mightily for us. The oldest lady there was a wonder. Popularly known as Iya Ijebu, at 105 years young, she is still feisty and energetic. A prayer warrior and a friendly lady. She asked Dayo if he would marry her. “Of course!” Dayo responded jocularly. And she wondered if he wasn’t married already. “I will chase the others away just for you”, Dayo replied. She enjoyed the conversation. She specifically asked us to look after our spouses with love and purpose, that it was the most crucial part of our lives.

The home staff were courteous and followed due procedure; they signed us in. Took inventory of the gifts we brought and gave us a copy of the checklist. The elderly residents looked well taken care of, and the place was exceedingly clean. It is a massive plus to the government and the people of Lagos State.

The Zedx Global team were happy to visit the senior citizens of the Lagos State Government Old Peoples’ Home (Home of Noble Senior Citizens) at Yaba, Lagos.

Zedx Global would build the road to the site under an agreement with the Lagos State Government and ensure that the existing bridges are adequate.
